Urban Technique training with Erduan Xhaferi

The style of dance that we focused on during the first two terms were House. The aim was for students to familiarise themselves with this specific style of dance and how foundations were present through generations.

During the first session of Urban dance, Ed had introduced the class to basic foundations of House dance which included the jack, afro jack, and the pas de bourree. With this, he spoke with us during the demonstrations of each move, explaning how to use our bodies, and how each move should be performed.

As the weeks progressed we had learnt small house routines, and a vocabulary sheet of the different house moves to learn for our assessment. Ed had explained that we were to learn each dance move from the sheet, and we were to practise them so we were able to recognise what the move was and how they had to be performed.

All students continued to work towards the assessment by learning and sharing routines within the class, either working on solos, duets or group work.
